What is Social Prescribing?
Social prescribing is an approach where GPs, psychologists and other health professionals can refer people to non-medical supports in the community, such as groups, activities and local programs, alongside clinical treatments.
It recognises that health and wellbeing are shaped not only by clinical care, but also by social, emotional and practical factors in everyday life.

...
Social prescribing connects people into community, creativity and everyday connection - including activities such as creative programs, social groups, movement, learning opportunities and shared spaces. These experiences help strengthen connection, purpose and overall wellbeing, reflecting the importance of relationships, belonging and participation in health.

Holy Grounds is a social enterprise cafe that goes beyond coffee, offering volunteer opportunities, regular programs and community events. We support volunteers to spark conversation and use conversation prompts that make connection easier and more accessible.
Holy Grounds is a welcoming space where community helps shape what happens here. People of all abilities, identities and backgrounds are welcome, and all activities are free with no obligation to purchase. Whether you join a session, take part in a program, or simply share a coffee, Holy Grounds is a place to belong, participate and connect.
Our inclusion on the Australian Disease Management Association’s Map of Social Prescribing Services reflects this role - as a place where people can be referred not for treatment, but for connection, belonging and community wellbeing.
